Projects

CTG

We are exploring whether collaborating with obstetricians could enable a CTG (cardiotocogram) during pregnancy to be performed by a primary care midwife, rather than at the hospital. Research shows that women appreciate being able to go to their own midwife for this procedure..

Diabetes gravidarum (gestational diabetes)

Since the spring of 2022, it has been possible for women with mild gestational diabetes to remain under the care of their own primary care midwife. To facilitate this, the care group has established close collaboration with dietitians in the region. Consequently, a referral to a gynecologist is often no longer necessary. This benefits the continuity of care and avoids unnecessary healthcare costs. The care group continues to monitor this project closely to ensure the quality of this new form of diabetes care.

Electronic data exchange, Babyconnect

Babyconnect is a government-facilitated project that enables secure electronic data exchange between maternity care providers. We participate in this initiative in the region through the ACM working group.

Birthing Center

De Zorggroep is investigating the feasibility of a birth center in the region. A birth center is a home-like setting for giving birth that maintains a connection to the hospital. Experiences with other birth centers across the country show that midwives make fewer referrals when working in such a facility; furthermore, midwives experience greater job satisfaction, and clients find it a pleasant place to give birth. In short, this is a promising development that De Zorggroep intends to pursue.

Joint information provision

One of the projects for 2024 involves exploring the feasibility of a form of joint educational session. Pregnant women have both a right to and a need for high-quality information on various topics, such as pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood. Many English-speaking expectant mothers and partners also live in the region, and the Care Group aims to provide them with the appropriate information as well.

Saturation measurement (oxygen measurement) in newborns

Measuring oxygen levels in newborns is a relatively simple and reliable procedure. We are considering how to integrate this into our care and are discussing the matter with regional partners as well as the professional association (KNOV).

Triage centre

Towards the end of 2023, members expressed a desire to explore the possibilities of a triage center. Existing triage centers elsewhere in the country will serve as examples, and information will be gathered from them. The project will be further developed over the course of 2024.

Care Standard for Integrated Birth Care

Midwifery care is provided in accordance with the guidelines of professional organizations (KNOV and NVOG) who have agreed with each other. Binnen de VSV’s en in ACM verband worden afspraken gemaakt hoe dat in te vullen in onze regio.

Midwifery care is provided in accordance with the guidelines agreed upon by professional organizations (KNOV and NVOG). Agreements on how to implement these in our region are made within the VSVs (collaborative maternity care partnerships) and in the context of the ACM.
